Testimonial by Maria Teresa Sekiguchi (Economist)
For the 20th Anniversary Concert
September 2nd, 2000
Photo: Maria Teres Sekiguchi at age 13, playing in a concert. Today is a very special day, because we not only celebrate twenty years in the life of the Academia Yuriko Kuronuma but because it allows us to share again this marvelous stage with our “camaradas”, teachers, colleagues, pupils of Professor Kuronuma and, of course, all our friends. It is wonderful to be able to be together and again play with the Japanese students with whom we shared unforgettable moments in our get-togethers and our tours through Mexico and Japan.
We are today here as a family and we enjoy and share this universal language that is the legacy of Professor Kuronuma: that of Music. We have all followed different paths; some have continued the way of music very successfully as professionals; some of us have dedicated ourselves to other professions: some even live in other cities or other countries, but we all still are joined by the same common link: our love for music.
In the name of the alumni of the Academia Yuriko Kuronuma, I would like to convey my deep gratitude to Professor Yuriko Kuronuma for her priceless labor during these twenty years. Thank you so much Professor Yuriko for your dedication, your support, your guidance, your teachings and for the marvelous opportunities and experiences you have given us. Thank you teacher, for creating significant bridges between Mexico and Japan. We are sure this is a legacy that will endure beyond these first twenty years. Congratulations!
