Violoncellist, Pedagogue in Music Education

Born in Torreon, Coahuila , Mexico, she started her formal education of music and violoncello at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in 1993, where she was a pupil of Professor Cástulo Conde. Later she was awarded a scholarship to study abroad.

She graduated with the highest honors in the fields of music performance and music education in the University of Southern Mississippi, where she studied cello with Paul York, Dieter Wolforst and Alexander Russakovsky.

For five years she was a member of the University’s Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Jay Dean. She was also a member of the University’s leading choir, the “Southern Chorale”, for a year and a half, touring Chicago and New York. During her Senior year she did her student teaching at WorthSchool” in the UK.

She has played in diverse chamber groups such as quartets, trios, cello ensembles. She has taken more specialized courses for further accomplishment of her instrument and several courses of different music teaching methods.

She studied under Dobrila Bercovic-Magdalenic for one year in Zagreb, Croatia and participated in the Summer School at Upbeat Hvar in Croatia for two consecutive years where she studied cello with Nino Ruzevic (Principal Cellist of the Zagreb Philharmonic) and with Gustavo Tavares (Principal Cellist of the Norway Opera Orchestra and member of the Triangle Trio).

She took the position as Music Teacher at the Colegio Cervantes, and since 2002 was a member of the Camerata de Coahuila directed by Ramon Shade. She joined the Academia Yuriko Kuronuma in 2006.
