Bozena Slawinska
Violoncellist
Born in Elbalg, Poland, she started her musical studies in her native city. She graduated from the “Frederic Chopin” MusicAcademy of Warsaw with honors under the guidance of Andrzej Orkisz.
She completed her technical education in the Master Classes of Professors Michael Flacksman (Austria), Aldo Parisot (Brazil) and Giuseppe Sinopoli (Italy).
Her long list of concerts, together with theSecond Prize in the National Danczowski Competition have made her the recipient of rave reviews from specialized critics of Poland. After obtaining the recognition diploma from the International Music Competition of Geneva, Switzerland (1979), she gave recitals inVienna, Prague, Venice, Moscow and Geneva. She has performed with renowned artists such as Arthur Rubinstein, Henryk Szeryng, James Galway, Kurt Redel and Kazimierz Wilkomirski, among others, under the direction of Franco Ferrara, Karl Zecchi, Franco Fasano, Zygmund Krzemienski, Luis Herrera De la Fuente, Eduardo Mata, Kurt Neuman, Enrique Barrios, Sergio Cardenas and others.
She has performed as a soloist with leading orchestras of Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland and the Community of Independent States.
Currently she lives in Mexico where she continues her activities as a soloist, gives recitals and is a member of the distinguished concert artists’ group “Concertistas de Bellas Artes”.
She is the founder and Artistic Director of the renowned octet “Cello Academia”,an unique violoncello ensemble with eight female cellists, with whom already has 2 CDs, which received the International Diamond Excelsis Award from the Global Quality Foundation.
In 1994, she created the violoncello program at the Academia Yuriko Kuronuma, and currently she supervises the program.
