Barbara Kamiñska
Violoncellist

Originally from Poland, now a Mexican citizen; she started her musical studies in the AdvancedMusicSchool at the city of KatowiceShe was recognized with the First Prize in the Yearly Competition of the Polish Radio and Television.

She received a scholarship to continue her studies in the Gnessin Pedagogic Institute of Music in Moscow, and later she received degrees in Master of Arts and the certifications as a soloist and teacher.

She has played as soloist of the State of Mexico Symphony and she was a  member of the Trio Clasico of the University of Veracruz. Since 1989 she lives in Mexico City where she became a member of the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 1999 along with other female cellists, she took part to form the octet Cello Academia”, with which has performed at the leading concert venues of Mexico. Already several Mexican and international composers have dedicated their works to this ensemble (Marcela Rodríguez, Benedykt Konowalski, and others.). In 2004, the ensemble recorded 2 CDs which received the International Diamond Excelsis Award from the Global Quality Foundation.

She was a teacher at the National Music Conservatory and the Music School of the University of Veracruz. She regularly performs as a soloist and gives recitals.

She is a teacher at the Academia Yuriko Kuronuma, since 2003.
