Highlights, the History of the Academia Yuriko Kuronuma, A. C. (Page 2)
- Spring, 1987 – The second tour to Japan takes place. Again, twelve children played in eleven cities, this time visiting the islands of Okinawa and Kyushu, and the cities of Yamaguchi, Kakogawa and Tokyo.
- Summer, 1988- Japanese children again visited Mexico and another Mexico – Japan Friendship Concert was held at the Nezahualcoyotl Hall.
- Summer, 1990 – The third tour to Japan is held. This time two graduates of the Academia, Daniel Vega-Albela and Adrian Justus, who were studying in the U.S. and had been members of the first Japan tour of 1985, joined this tour.
- July, 1995 – The 15th Anniversary Concert at the Nezahualcoyotl Hall. Special guests to this concert were the earthquake survivors babies, by then already 10 years old. The program included Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and its soloists were Carlos Lot, Rie Watanabe, Daniel Vega-Albela and Adrian Justus for each season. These four graduates had already finished their professional violin studies in the U.S.
- Spring, 1997 –Celebration of a 100 Years of Japanese Immigration to Mexico. The pupils of the Academia were joined by the Fujisawa Junior Orchestra who came from Japan and by the Youth Orchestra of Mexico. They participated in the Festival of the Historical Center of Mexico City and performed at the Cathedral in Cuernavaca, Morelos.
- August, 2000 – Master Classes were held in Cuernavaca by Professor Milan Vitek (violin) and Professor Maria Hixová (violoncello). The 20th Anniversary Concert at the Nezahualcoyotl Hall took place with the participation of current pupils and graduates, closing the program with the Serenades for String Orchestra by Dvorak and Tchaikovsky under the baton of Milan Vitek.

- December, 2003 – Two pupils were awarded the First and Third prizes in the 7th National Violin Competition “Hermilo Novelo”, adding to our list of numerous past winners in the same competition since the first edition in 1986, as well as in the Young Soloists Competition organized by the State of Mexico Symphony and by the National University of Mexico.
- July, 2005 – The fourth Japan tour of the Mexico-Japan Friendship Concerts takes place with twelve pupils aged 8 through 15 who represented Mexico officially at the World EXPO 2005 in Aichi, Japan. The Empress Michiko of the Japanese Imperial Family honored us with her presence at the concert in Tokyo. This tour included other concerts in Yokohama, Oyama, Kakogawa and Fujino.

- September, 2005 – We celebrated our 25th Anniversary at the NezahualcoyotlHall, inviting Diego Bañuelos as a soloist –a former student who holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin- to play the Spring by Vivaldi with the Academia String Orchestra under the baton of Jorge Cordoba.
- November, 2006 – A Fall Concert will take place at the Blas Galindo Auditorium of CENART (NationalArtsCenter) in Mexico City.
